The frustrations of APC - Wike’s aide

The frustrations of APC - Wike’s aideI have just been briefed on the bombastic outburst by Davies Ikanya and his co-travellers in the Rivers State chapter of the APC deprecating Gov. Nyesom Wike for not probing the killings in Rivers State during the elections. This is laughable and inane. Is it a case of selective amnesia?  Since Dr. Ikanya has details of the murders associated with the last general elections, why not make them public? In fact, he should be the prime suspect in the alleged murders.

However, there is this salient question he has to answer: who was the chief security officer then? Who swore to protect lives and property? Dr Ikanya just inadvertently indicted his boss, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi.  What Ikanya just told the world is that Amaechi is not only guilty of maladministration, but also repudiated his constitutional responsibility to protect lives and property.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't have bothered myself by responding to such fatuous and sweeping allegations. The same man who censured the Hon. Justice Omereji's fact finding panel, is calling on the same governor to set up another panel. Will he not accuse the governor of witch-hunting when a Judge is appointed to head the panel? This obviates the need for further proof that Ikanya and his cohorts are a bunch of flustered and rudderless characters who will relentlessly - although fruitlessly - try to sully the reputation of the governor. You don't need a probe panel to disclose the identities of the alleged murders and their victims. After all, the APC was in power and also in control of the state machinery. Why then did it not set up a panel? The reason is simple: it shall indict itself.

On the issue of harassing witnesses, I glean that Ikanya is preparing the minds of their supporters. He, in anticipation that they will lose at the Tribunal, wants to plank the expected loss on the mendacious and risible excuse that they lost because their witnesses were intimidated. Nobody intimidated anybody. If he has the facts, let him prove his claims. The overwhelming successes of Wike within a hundred days in office rubbished the 8 years of Amaechi and so the APC in Rivers State is hell bent  on denigrating Wike's  achievements but has failed.
