Rivers rerun: Soldiers arrest PDP militants Featured

Soldiers providing security for today’s rerun election in Etche local government of Rivers State in have arrested some members of a militia group working for the Peoples Democratic, PDP.  Among those listed as arrested were Samuel Nwanosike, known as Ishi, accused of leading electoral violence for PDP in previous polls, Roland Sekibo and Odiari Princewill. The three are not natives of Etche and could not satisfactorily explain their mission in Etche. Over 40 young whom they were moving into Etche were also arrested.

The arrest took place at Ulakwo while it remained unclear what the military might do next. However, The Neighbourhood gathered that Governor Nyesom Wike had made frantic contacts to have them released and allowed to proceed with their assignment in Etche.
