An Ikwerre young man has lost his life to the fury of an Ogoni shrine which was reported to have struck him death over an unpaid balance of a vow.
The man, said to be in his late 30’s and native of Oroazi in Obio-Akpor local government, but married to an Ogoni lady, had reportedly made a promise of paying the sum of N400,000 to the shrine if it assisted him to gain a certain contract. A family source who spoke to The Neighbourhood over the sad development disclosed that the young man eventually won the contract which opened him the floodgate of much money.
According to the family source, the man had begun to pay the money as promised but was considered too slow by the shrine. As of the time of his death, he was said to paid N320k,000 with N80,000 to be paid, an act said to have infuriated the shrine to the deadly action.
Mother to the deceased, who lamented the death 8f her son, however, blamed him for “resorting to a shrine for help rather than going to God”.
While narrating the incident which has left his wife and two children fatherless, to The Neighbourhood, the grief-stricken woman blamed the late son for taking to the wife’s advice. “My son must have listened to the advice of his wife to go to the juju(shrine). Now, where is he? He is dead. Where ever he is now, he must be regretting.”
The Neighbourhood was unable to speak with the man’s wife as she was said to still be in grief when the medium visited the family.
