Candidates of the All Progressives Congress, AC, in Rivers State earlier cleared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to contest the February 16 National Assembly election may not be on the ballot anymore.
This is because INEC has deleted their names from its list of candidates to take part in the polls, saying it was in compliance with the judgment of a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital which barred the Commission from accepting candidates presented by the party in Rivers State.
According to its latest list of candidates for the presidential and National Assembly elections published on Thursday, and sighted by The Neighbourhood Correspondent, candidates from Rivers State were missing.
The Neighbourhood was unable to speak with any senior member of the party over the development as of the time of this report. However, a source in the party said the “situation has weakened everybody and brought morale of members low.”
