Politicians have been challenged to live up to the expectations of either elective or appointive offices by creating meaningful jobs in order to better the lives of the populace.
The challenge was thrown at them on by the governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, during the March 9 Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in Rivers State, Victor Fingesi, on a post on his verified Facebook handle, Facebook.com/victor.fingesi, on Wednesday. The candidate, who had since rejected the entire polls, said that the jobs, when created would lead to the channeling of available manpower into meaningful developments. “Here in Rivers State, the trending job these politicians create for the teeming youths is to stage meaningless protests”, Fingesi noted, however added that rather than blame the political class for the ugly situation, he would rather blame those who give themselves to be used for selfish purposes.
“Youths whose wealths are used up on frivolities still walk under scorching sun for protests they barely understand. What could be more degrading?”
He wondered how many times youths of the state had protested against the use of state funds noting that against the fsct that the state is one of the richest in the country, regretably, it is among the most impoverished, “How many times have Rivers State youths protested against the use of state funds in gainless politics? Rivers State, even as Treasure Base of the nation is one of the most impoverished states. Who’s protesting this?”
Fingesi said that “If at all protests solve any problems, there are thousands of positive reasons to embark on it. Not for greedy politicians who destroy your future to satisfy their pride.”
