Decaying road infrastructure in the K-Dere and B-Dere areas in Gokana local government area in Rivers State will soon receive the attention of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
The hope came today, Monday, when Ag. Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, CEO, and Head, Interim Management Committee, IMC, Gbene Dr. Joi Nunieh, accompanied by Ag. Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Chief Ibanga Bassey, and Ag. Executive Director, Projects, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, visited the communities on inspection.
She promised an “immediate intervention” on the broken down link bridge between Dere and Okrika.
Dr. Nunieh also visited a polluted area on the Dere River where she lamented the damage done to the environment and aquatic life.
A community leader, who conducted Dr. Nunieh round, said the pollution was caused by the activity of illegal oil bunkering. Dr. Nunieh tasked Gokana leaders to intervene to end the continued damage to the environment.
