Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo, shall seek re-election in the country’s presidential election.
The election shall take place in December
If cleared by the Ghana Electoral Commission, Akufo-Addo would be the presidential candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, at the polls, and the fourth since 2008.
Nana Akufo-Addo submitted his nomination forms to the Electoral Commission recently to seek re-election as president. The president visited the election commissioner’s office to file the nomination.
Incidentally, this is the first time a sitting president of the republic has visited the commission to submit his nomination forms.
Akufo-Addo had served as Ghana’s Attorney General from 2001 to 2003, and later served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs (2003 to 2007).
He is currently the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
