Ten finalists have emerged in the Facebook Personality Award 2020 for active users of the popular global social networking service.
Those named from an earlier round are Ogbams Ojimah, Hamilton Robinson, Winnie Omuboba Morganson, Ibiba Okunye, Meinyie CrackCommander and Robinson Tombari Sibe.
Also in the finalists’ list are Mase Bobmanuel, Obiaruko Ndukwe, Martha Okere, and Ola Le Kan (Olalekan Ige).
The organiser of the social media contest, Wenenda Weli, a Port Harcourt maverick socialite, said it is to recognise the City’s residents who impacted positively on the social media community.
“Recall that in keeping with the spirit of recognizing those who have impacted on the social media community positively, an award committee came up with 32 (thirty-two) nominees”, he published as prelude to the naming of the finalists.
On how the judges arrived at their choice, Weli, also addressed Godfather, noted that, “These are the faces that have in their own unique ways, tried to make a difference in the social media community of Facebook. They may not have said everything right or acted like saints, but certainly have tried to change the world, in their own small small way to make the difference & make our world a better place.
“In recognition of this fact, they have been voted for by Facebook users and therefore qualified for the final round of selection for the FACEBOOK PERSONALITY AWARD, 2020.
The organiser disclosed that on “the 11th of February, 2021, the winner of the award will be announced, after a fresh round of voting by an Electoral College of thirty (30) people, who are also active on Facebook, at the Award Cocktail Ceremony.”
Voting started on December 18 and ended on December 31, 2020.
After an initial round of voting by citizens of the “Republic of Facebook”, the finalists emeryed.
